Subhashitas Subhashita 431 meaning

ekakee grihasantyaktah panipatro digambarah sopi sambadhyate loke trishnaya pashya kautukam

Look how strange it is: even a lone ascetic who has left his home, eats from his palms and wears only the sky, is still troubled in this world by craving.

What it means
Giving up things is not the same as giving up wanting. Desire can follow you into any lifestyle, even the simplest one. The real work is inside: noticing the want and gently letting it pass.

Spoken by Traditional.
