krudhyantam na pratikrudhyed akrushtah kushalam vadet
saptadvar-avakeernam cha na vacham anritam vadet
क्रुध्यन्तं न प्रतिक्रुध्येदाक्रुष्टः कुशलं वदेत् ।
सप्तद्वारावकीर्णां च न वाचमनृतां वदेत् ॥
Do not get angry back at someone who is angry with you. When insulted, reply with words of goodwill. And never let false words slip out through the gates of your senses.
What it means
When someone shouts, matching their volume only doubles the noise. A calm, kind reply often surprises them into calming down too. You cannot control their anger, but you decide whether it spreads to you.हिंदी में अर्थ
जो तुम पर क्रोध करे, उस पर बदले में क्रोध मत करो। अपमान होने पर भी भली बात कहो। और इंद्रियों के द्वारों से कभी झूठी वाणी मत निकलने दो।
कोई चिल्लाए और आप भी उसी सुर में बोलें, तो शोर दुगना होता है। शांत और भला जवाब अक्सर उसे भी ठंडा कर देता है। उसका गुस्सा आपके बस में नहीं, पर उसे खुद तक फैलने देना है।
