satyam brooyat priyam brooyan na brooyat satyam apriyam
priyam cha n-anritam brooyad esha dharmah sanatanah
सत्यं ब्रूयात्प्रियं ब्रूयान्न ब्रूयात्सत्यमप्रियम् ।
प्रियं च नानृतं ब्रूयादेष धर्मः सनातनः ॥
Speak the truth, and speak it kindly. Do not voice truth in a cruel way, and do not tell pleasant lies. This is the timeless way of right living.

सच बोलो, और प्रिय ढंग से बोलो। कड़वा सच कठोर तरीके से मत कहो, और मीठा झूठ भी मत बोलो। यही सनातन धर्म है।
ईमानदारी और दया साथ चलनी चाहिए। सच और नरमी में से एक चुनना ज़रूरी नहीं; शब्द, समय और लहजा ऐसा चुनें कि सच सुना जा सके।
