Subhashitas Subhashita 316 meaning

apadgatam hasasi kim dravin-andha moodha lakshmeeh sthira na bhavat-eeti kim atra chitram etan prapashyasi ghatan jalayantrachakre rikta bhavanti bharita bharitash cha riktah

Blinded by wealth, you fool, why do you laugh at someone fallen on hard times? Wealth never stays — what is so surprising in that? Look at the pots on the water-wheel: the empty ones get filled and the full ones become empty.

What it means
Fortunes rise and fall like pots on a water-wheel. Never mock someone who is struggling; tomorrow the wheel may turn for you. Treat people in trouble with the respect you'd want if you were in their place.
