chaturbhagas tu shastrarthaish chaturbhagam svayatnatah
अर्धं सज्जनसम्पर्कादविद्याया विनश्यति ।
चतुर्भागस्तु शास्त्रार्थैश्चतुर्भागं स्वयत्नतः ॥
Half of one's ignorance is removed by the company of good people, a quarter by the study of the scriptures and sciences, and the last quarter by one's own effort.
