Sandalwood rubbed again and again keeps its lovely scent; sugarcane cut again and again stays sweet; gold burnt again and again keeps its bright colour. Even at the point of death, the nature of the noble does not change.

What it means
Life will rub, cut and burn you more than once. The question is whether you keep your sweetness through it. Good character is not what you show on easy days; it's what survives the hard ones.
