विरला जानन्ति गुणान् विरलाः कुर्वन्ति निर्धने स्नेहम् ।
विरलाः परकार्यरताः परदुःखेनापि दुःखिता विरलाः ॥
Rare are those who recognise merit, rare those who show love to the poor, rare those devoted to others' work, and rare those who feel pain at others' pain.

यह श्लोक चार दुर्लभ गुण बताता है। हर एक चुनाव है: दूसरों के गुण देखना, जो बदला न दे सके उससे स्नेह, दूसरों के काम में हाथ बँटाना और उनका दुख महसूस करना।
