upakarishu yah sadhuh sadhutve tasya ko gunah
apakarishu yah sadhuh sa sadhuh sadbhir uchyate
उपकारिषु यः साधुः साधुत्वे तस्य को गुणः ।
अपकारिषु यः साधुः स साधुः सद्भिरुच्यते ॥
If a person is good to those who are good to him, what is special in that? The one who is good even to those who harm him — he is called good by the wise.
What it means
Being nice to nice people is easy. Real goodness is tested when someone has wronged you. You don't have to trust them blindly, but you can refuse to repay harm with harm.हिंदी में अर्थ
जो उपकार करने वालों के प्रति अच्छा है, उसकी अच्छाई में क्या विशेषता? जो अपकार करने वालों के प्रति भी अच्छा रहे, सज्जन उसी को साधु कहते हैं।
अच्छों के साथ अच्छा होना आसान है। असली भलाई की परीक्षा तब होती है जब किसी ने आपका बुरा किया हो। अंधा भरोसा न करें, पर बुराई का बदला बुराई से न दें।
