इक्षोरग्रात्क्रमशः पर्वणि पर्वणि यथा रसविशेषः ।
तद्वत्सज्जनमैत्री विपरीतानां च विपरीता ॥
As sugarcane gets sweeter joint by joint from the top downwards, so friendship with good people grows sweeter with time; with the wicked it is the reverse.
