sada lokahite yukta ratnadeepa iv-ottamah
They expect no affection, no worthy recipient, no special circumstance, and are always devoted to the world's welfare. The best people are like lamps of jewels, which need no oil, no bowl and no wick.
What it means
An ordinary lamp needs oil and a wick; a glowing gem shines by itself. Truly good people help without needing praise, favours in return or perfect conditions. Their kindness comes from within, not from what they get.
