छूटइ मल कि मलहि के धोएँ। घृत कि पाव कोइ बारि बिलोएँ।।
प्रेम भगति जल बिनु रघुराई। अभिअंतर मल कबहुँ न जाई।।
Can dirt be washed away with dirt? Can anyone get butter by churning water? Without the water of loving devotion, Raghurai, the dirt inside never goes away.

क्या मैल से मैल धुल सकता है? क्या पानी मथने से किसी को घी मिल सकता है? हे रघुराई, प्रेम-भक्ति रूपी जल के बिना भीतर का मैल कभी नहीं जाता।
गुरु वसिष्ठ कहते हैं, भीतर की गंदगी अहंकार या खोखली कोशिश से नहीं धुलती। केवल प्रेम ही मन को साफ़ करता है। पानी मथने से घी नहीं निकलता, सही साधन चुनिए।
