Ramcharitmanas 7.41.1 meaning
par hit saris dharma nahin bhaee par peeda sam nahin adhamaee
nirnay sakal puran bed kar kaheun tat janahin kobid nar
Brother, there is no higher duty than doing good to others, and no greater wrong than causing others pain. This is the conclusion of all the Puranas and Vedas — the wise understand it.
What it means
If you remember only one line, let it be this. Every scripture, Rama says, comes down to two rules: help others, and don't hurt them. That is religion in its simplest and truest form. How it helps in real life
- Helping others: Before bed, ask yourself two questions: whom did I help today, and whom did I hurt? Improve one answer tomorrow.
- When you are angry: About to send a cutting reply to your cousin in the family group? If it will only hurt, delete it and call her instead.
Spoken by Rama.
