In Rama's kingdom no one suffered from the three kinds of pain — of the body, from nature or from other beings. Everyone loved one another and lived by their own duty, following the wisdom of the Vedas.
What it means
Tulsidas paints a society free from illness, disaster and cruelty, where people care for each other and do their own work honestly. It is still a picture worth working towards. How it helps in real life
- Helping others: Your building's watchman has no health cover. Talk to the society committee about pooling a small fund for staff medical needs.
- At work: Tempted to skip your part because 'nobody else follows the rules'? Do your own job honestly today; good systems start with one person.
Spoken by Tulsidas.
