Gathering the threads of attachment to all of these, he twists them into one strong cord and ties his mind to my feet. He sees all as equal, wants nothing, and his mind holds no elation, grief or fear.
What it means
Rama doesn't ask us to stop loving family, friends or home. He asks us to gather all those scattered attachments into one thread and tie it to something higher. Love stays; the anxiety drops away. How it helps in real life
- When you are worried: Constantly anxious about your parents' health, your kids' future and your job? Each night, offer all three in one short prayer, then let them rest.
- As a parent: Your son leaves for college in Canada and you can't stop worrying. Keep loving him fully, but hand the worry to God each morning.
Spoken by Rama.
