Ramcharitmanas 3.16.1 meaning
dharma ten birati jog ten gyana gyan mochchaprad bed bakhana
jaten begi dravaun main bhaee so mam bhagati bhagat sukhadaee
धर्म तें बिरति जोग तें ग्याना। ग्यान मोच्छप्रद बेद बखाना।।
जातें बेगि द्रवउँ मैं भाई। सो मम भगति भगत सुखदाई।।
Right living leads to detachment, yoga leads to knowledge, and the Vedas say knowledge brings liberation. But what melts my heart quickly, brother, is devotion — and devotion brings joy to the devotee.
What it means
There are many paths — discipline, study, meditation. Each has value. But a sincere, loving heart reaches God fastest. You do not need to be learned to be close to the Divine; you need to care deeply. How it helps in real life
- When you feel alone: Alone in a new city and missing pujas at home? Light a diya, forget perfect mantras, and talk to God in your own words.
- As a parent: Your kids ask why you pray when you can't read Sanskrit. Tell them God listens to the heart, then pray together in Hindi or English.
Spoken by Rama.
