Fire can be put out with water, sun kept off with an umbrella, a wild elephant controlled with a sharp hook, a bull or donkey with a stick, illness with medicines, poison with remedies. The books have a cure for everything, but none for a fool.

What it means
Most problems have a fix, but stubborn foolishness, the refusal to learn, has no cure from outside. The only cure comes from within: the willingness to admit that we might be wrong.

Spoken by Bhartrihari.
