Mahabharata 5.39.3 meaning
priyo bhavati danena priyavadena chaparah
mantram moolabalenanyo yah priyah priya eva sah
प्रियो भवति दानेन प्रियवादेन चापरः।
मन्त्रं मूलबलेनान्यो यः प्रियः प्रिय एव सः॥
One person becomes dear by giving, another by speaking kindly, another by the power of charms and remedies. But one who is truly dear is simply dear for who he is.
What it means
Some affection is bought with gifts or flattery, and it fades when they stop. The deepest love doesn't need reasons — it's for who you are. Value those bonds most.हिंदी में अर्थ
कोई दान से प्रिय होता है, कोई मीठी बोली से, कोई मंत्र और जड़ी-बूटी के बल से। पर जो सचमुच प्रिय है, वह अपने आप में ही प्रिय होता है।
कुछ अपनापन तोहफ़ों या मीठी बातों से खरीदा जाता है, जो रुकते ही खत्म हो जाता है। सबसे गहरा प्रेम बिना कारण होता है।
