Mahabharata 5.39.23 meaning
jnatayas tarayanteeha jnatayo majjayanti cha
suvrittas tarayanteeha durvritta majjayanti cha
ज्ञातयस्तारयन्तीह ज्ञातयो मज्जयन्ति च।
सुवृत्तास्तारयन्तीह दुर्वृत्ता मज्जयन्ति च॥
Relatives can carry you across trouble, and relatives can drown you too. Those of good conduct lift you up; those of bad conduct pull you down.
