satam peyam yan na pibanty-asanto manyum maharaja piba prashamya
It is a bitter headache that comes without any disease; it leads to wrongdoing; it is harsh, sharp and fierce. The good drink it down; the wicked do not. Swallow your anger, great king, and be calm.
What it means
Anger is like a self-inflicted headache — painful, harsh and leading to regret. Mature people learn to swallow it before it spills over. It's bitter going down, but it saves a lot.
