Mahabharata 5.33.22 meaning
kshipram vijanati chiram shrinoti vijnaya ch-artham bhajate na kamat
n-asamprishto vyupayunkte pararthe tat prajnanam prathamam panditasya
He grasps things quickly yet listens patiently. Once he understands, he acts with purpose, not on impulse. He does not poke into other people's affairs unless asked. This is the first mark of a wise person.
What it means
Being quick is useful, but being a patient listener is rarer. Understand fully, act deliberately, and resist giving opinions nobody asked for. People trust those who listen more than they interrupt.
