Mahabharata 18.5.50 meaning
na jatu kaman na bhayan na lobhad dharmam tyajej jeevitasy-api hetoh
nityo dharmah sukhaduhkhe tv-anitye jeevo nityo hetur asya tv-anityah
न जातु कामान्न भयान्न लोभाद्धर्मं त्यजेज्जीवितस्यापि हेतोः।
नित्यो धर्मः सुखदुःखे त्वनित्ये जीवो नित्यो हेतुरस्य त्वनित्यः॥
Never give up dharma, not out of desire, fear or greed, not even to save your life. Dharma is eternal, pleasure and pain are passing; the soul is eternal, its causes passing.

कामना, भय या लोभ से, यहाँ तक कि प्राण बचाने के लिए भी, धर्म कभी मत छोड़ो। धर्म नित्य है, सुख-दुःख अनित्य हैं; जीव नित्य है, उसके कारण अनित्य।
मूड, इनाम और परेशानियाँ आती-जाती हैं, पर मूल्य नहीं बदलने चाहिए। समझौते का लालच आए तो याद रखो, तकलीफ़ गुज़र जाएगी, पर जो तुम बनोगे वह रहेगा।
