Mahabharata 12.258.22 meaning

muchyate bandhanat pushpam phalam vrintat pramuchyate klishyann api sutasnehaih pita sneham na munchati

A flower drops from its stem and a fruit falls from its stalk, but a father, even when troubled by his children, never lets go of his love for them.

What it means
Children may drift away or cause pain, yet a father's love keeps holding on. Remember this when you are tempted to take your parents for granted. Their bond with you does not detach the way you might.

Spoken by Chirakari.
