Katha Upanishad 1.1.8 meaning

ashaprateekshe sangatam soonritam ch-eshtapoorte putrapashoonsh cha sarvan etad vrinkte purushasy-alpamedhaso yasy-anashnan vasati brahmano grihe

If a learned guest stays hungry in a person's home, that careless person loses his hopes, good company, kind speech, the merit of his good works, his children and cattle, everything.

What it means
Neglecting someone who trusts you costs more than it seems. Ignoring a guest, a friend, or anyone in need slowly drains the goodness from our own lives.
