Katha Upanishad 1.1.23 meaning

shatayushah putrapautran vrineeshva bahoon pashoon hastihiranyam ashvan bhoomer mahad ayatanam vrineeshva svayam cha jeeva sharado yavad ichchasi

Ask instead for sons and grandsons who live a hundred years, for herds of cattle, elephants, gold and horses. Ask for vast lands, and live yourself for as many years as you wish.

What it means
Death offers everything the world calls success: family, wealth, land, long life. The test is clear: will we trade the search for truth for comfort and possessions?

Spoken by Yama.
