Indra, this body is mortal, held in the grip of death, yet it is the home of the deathless, bodiless Self. As long as one identifies with the body, one is caught by pleasure and pain; there is no escape from them. But pleasure and pain do not touch one who knows himself beyond the body.

What it means
After Indra returns four times with more questions, Prajapati gives the final lesson. The body will feel pleasure and pain, but you are more than the body. Knowing this softens the swing between highs and lows.

Spoken by Prajapati.
