Chanakya Niti · Chapter 9
Chanakya Niti 9.3 meaning
gandhah suvarne phalam ikshudande n-akari pushpam khalu chandanasya
vidvan dhanee bhoopatir deerghajeevee dhatuh pura kopi na buddhidobhoot
The Creator never gave gold a fragrance, sugarcane a fruit, or sandalwood a flower. He never made the learned rich or kings long-lived. Clearly no one advised him well back then!
What it means
Nothing and no one has everything. A playful reminder that every gift comes with a gap. Instead of resenting what is missing in your life or in others, value the strengths that are actually there.
Spoken by Chanakya.
