alasy-opagata vidya parahastagatam dhanam
alpabeejam hatam kshetram hatam sainyam anayakam
आलस्योपगता विद्या परहस्तगतं धनम् ।
अल्पबीजं हतं क्षेत्रं हतं सैन्यमनायकम् ॥
Knowledge is lost through laziness, money is lost in someone else's hands, a field is wasted with too little seed, and an army without a leader is destroyed.
