Chanakya Niti 5.2 meaning
yatha chaturbhih kanakam pareekshyate nigharshanachchedanatapatadanaih
tatha chaturbhih purushah pareekshyate tyagena sheelena gunena karmana
यथा चतुर्भिः कनकं परीक्ष्यते निघर्षणच्छेदनतापताडनैः ।
तथा चतुर्भिः पुरुषः परीक्ष्यते त्यागेन शीलेन गुणेन कर्मणा ॥
Just as gold is tested in four ways — by rubbing, cutting, heating and hammering — a person is tested by four things: generosity, character, qualities and actions.
What it means
Judge people, and yourself, by what endures under pressure: how much you give, how you behave, what you're good at and what you actually do. Hard times are simply the test that reveals real gold.हिंदी में अर्थ
जैसे सोने को चार तरह से परखा जाता है—घिसकर, काटकर, तपाकर और पीटकर—वैसे ही मनुष्य की परख चार बातों से होती है: त्याग, शील, गुण और कर्म।
लोगों को और खुद को दबाव में परखो: कितना देते हो, कैसा व्यवहार है, क्या गुण हैं और असल में क्या करते हो। कठिन समय ही असली सोने की पहचान कराता है।
