If there is greed, what worse fault is needed? If there is backbiting, what worse sin? If there is truth, why need penance? If the mind is pure, why a pilgrimage? With goodness, why other virtues? With real greatness, why ornaments? With true learning, why wealth? With disgrace, what worse is death?

What it means
Some qualities outweigh everything else. Greed and gossip poison a life on their own; truth, a clean mind and real learning enrich it on their own. Focus on the few things that matter most.

Spoken by Chanakya.
