Chanakya Niti · Chapter 13

Chanakya Niti 13.16 meaning

anavasthita-karyasya na jane na vane sukham jano dahati sansargad vanam sangavivarjanat

A person whose work and mind are unsettled finds no happiness, neither among people nor alone in the forest. People burn him with their company, and the forest burns him with its loneliness.

What it means
If you keep switching paths without commitment, no place feels right. Crowds feel irritating, solitude feels empty. The problem isn't the setting; it's the restlessness. Settle on a purpose and stay with it.

Spoken by Chanakya.
