Chanakya Niti 12.7 meaning
satsangad bhavati hi sadhuta khalanam sadhoonam na hi khalasangateh khalatvam
amodam kusumabhavam mrid eva dhatte mridgandham na hi kusumani dharayanti
सत्सङ्गाद्भवति हि साधुता खलानां साधूनां न हि खलसङ्गतेः खलत्वम्।
आमोदं कुसुमभवं मृदेव धत्ते मृद्गन्धं न हि कुसुमानि धारयन्ति॥
Through good company even bad people become good, but good people don't turn bad from bad company. The soil takes on the fragrance of flowers, yet the flowers never take on the smell of the soil.
What it means
Goodness is powerful and contagious. Spend time with people who lift you, and when you are among people who don't, hold on to your values. A strong character spreads its fragrance instead of absorbing the dirt.हिंदी में अर्थ
अच्छी संगत से बुरे लोग भी अच्छे बन जाते हैं, पर बुरी संगत से अच्छे लोग बुरे नहीं बनते। मिट्टी फूलों की खुशबू ले लेती है, पर फूल मिट्टी की गंध नहीं लेते।
अच्छाई ताकतवर होती है और फैलती है। उनके साथ समय बिताओ जो तुम्हें ऊपर उठाएँ, और जब ऐसे लोग न हों तो अपने मूल्यों पर टिके रहो। मज़बूत चरित्र खुशबू फैलाता है।
