Chanakya Niti 10.8 meaning
antahsara-viheenanam upadesho na jayate
malayachala-sansargan na venush chandanayate
अन्तःसारविहीनानामुपदेशो न जायते।
मलयाचलसंसर्गान्न वेणुश्चन्दनायते॥
Advice does not take root in people who are hollow inside. Bamboo growing on the Malaya mountain never becomes sandalwood, however close it stands.
What it means
Good company and good advice help only when there is some inner willingness to change. Don't exhaust yourself trying to fix people who don't want it, and check whether you are open to the advice you receive.हिंदी में अर्थ
जिनके अंदर कोई सार नहीं, उन पर उपदेश असर नहीं करता। मलय पर्वत पर चंदन के पास उगकर भी बाँस चंदन नहीं बन जाता।
अच्छी संगत और सलाह तभी काम आती है जब भीतर बदलने की इच्छा हो। जो बदलना नहीं चाहते उन पर अपनी ताकत मत खपाओ, और खुद देखो कि तुम सलाह के लिए खुले हो या नहीं।
