Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 5.5.1 meaning

pratham-ottame akshare satyam madhyatonritam tad etad anritam ubhayatah satyena parigriheetam satyabhooyam eva bhavati

In the word satya, the first and last syllables are truth and the middle one is untruth. The untruth is held on both sides by truth, and so truth wins out.

What it means
A playful word-game with a serious point: falsehood may slip into life, but when you surround it with honesty before and after, truth prevails. Owning up to a mistake is how this works in practice.
