Srimad Bhagavatam 9.21.12 meaning

na kamayeham gatim eeshvarat param ashtarddhiyuktam apunarbhavam va artim prapadyekhiladehabhajam antahsthito yena bhavanty aduhkhah

I do not seek from God the highest state with its eight powers, nor freedom from rebirth. I take on the suffering of all beings, so that dwelling within them, I may free them from sorrow.

What it means
Starving after a long fast, King Rantideva gives away his last water to a thirsty stranger and says this. Compassion at its highest wants others' relief more than personal salvation.

Spoken by Rantideva.
