Srimad Bhagavatam 8.22.4 meaning
punsam shlaghyatamam manye dandam arhattam-arpitam
yam na mata pita bhrata suhridash ch-adishanti hi
पुंसां श्लाघ्यतमं मन्ये दण्डमर्हत्तमार्पितम्।
यं न माता पिता भ्राता सुहृदश्चादिशन्ति हि॥
I think the most honourable punishment a person can receive is one given by the most worthy. Such correction is something even a mother, father, brother or friends cannot give.
What it means
Being corrected by someone wiser is a gift, not an insult. Bali receives his loss with dignity and sees it as a lesson only the highest teacher could give.हिंदी में अर्थ
मैं मानता हूँ कि सबसे योग्य व्यक्ति से मिला दंड मनुष्य के लिए सबसे सम्मान की बात है। ऐसा सुधार माता, पिता, भाई या मित्र भी नहीं दे सकते।
किसी ज़्यादा समझदार से सुधार मिलना अपमान नहीं, उपहार है। बलि अपनी हार को गरिमा से स्वीकार करते हैं और उसे सबसे ऊँचे गुरु का पाठ मानते हैं।
