Srimad Bhagavatam 3.25.16 meaning
aham mamabhimanotthaih kamalobhadibhir malaih
veetam yada manah shuddham aduhkham asukham samam
When the mind becomes pure, cleansed of the stains of lust and greed born from the sense of 'I' and 'mine', it is no longer swayed by pain or pleasure and becomes balanced.
What it means
Much of our inner turmoil grows from 'me' and 'mine'. As these loosen, the mind settles. Balance is not numbness; it is freedom from being yanked around by every gain and loss.
