Srimad Bhagavatam 2.2.5 meaning

cheerani kim pathi na santi dishanti bhiksham n-aiv-anghripah parabhritah saritopy ashushyan ruddha guhah kim ajitovati n-opasannan kasmad bhajanti kavayo dhanadurmad-andhan

चीराणि किं पथि न सन्ति दिशन्ति भिक्षां नैवाङ्घ्रिपाः परभृतः सरितोऽप्यशुष्यन्। रुद्धा गुहाः किमजितोऽवति नोपसन्नान्कस्माद्भजन्ति कवयो धनदुर्मदान्धान्॥

Are there no rags on the road? Do trees, which live for others, not give alms? Have rivers dried up, or caves been sealed? Does the Lord not protect those who turn to him? Why then do the wise flatter those blinded by wealth?

What it means

Nature provides generously, so why bow before the arrogant rich? Self-respect means not selling your dignity for favours. Simple needs give you the freedom to speak the truth.

क्या रास्ते में चिथड़े नहीं मिलते? क्या दूसरों का पालन करने वाले पेड़ भिक्षा नहीं देते? क्या नदियाँ सूख गईं, गुफाएँ बंद हो गईं? क्या भगवान शरणागतों की रक्षा नहीं करते? फिर ज्ञानी धन के नशे में अंधे लोगों की चापलूसी क्यों करते हैं?

प्रकृति उदारता से देती है, फिर घमंडी अमीरों के आगे क्यों झुकें? आत्मसम्मान का मतलब है कृपा के लिए अपनी गरिमा न बेचना। सादी ज़रूरतें सच बोलने की आज़ादी देती हैं।
