Srimad Bhagavatam 11.5.9 meaning
shriya vibhooty-abhijanena vidyaya tyagena roopena balena karmana
jatasmayen-andhadhiyah sah-eshvaran satovamanyanti haripriyan khalah
श्रिया विभूत्याभिजनेन विद्यया त्यागेन रूपेण बलेन कर्मणा।
जातस्मयेनान्धधियः सहेश्वरान्सतोऽवमन्यन्ति हरिप्रियान्खलाः॥
Blinded by pride born of wealth, power, family, learning, generosity, looks, strength or achievement, the wicked look down on good people who are dear to the Lord, and even on the Lord himself.
What it means
Any gift, even generosity or learning, can turn into pride. Once pride blinds us, we start looking down on good people. Stay grateful for your gifts instead of feeling superior because of them.हिंदी में अर्थ
धन, वैभव, कुल, विद्या, दान, रूप, बल या कर्म से पैदा हुए घमंड में अंधे दुष्ट लोग भगवान के प्रिय सज्जनों का, और स्वयं भगवान का भी, अनादर करते हैं।
कोई भी गुण, दान या विद्या भी, घमंड बन सकता है। घमंड अंधा कर दे तो हम अच्छे लोगों को नीचा देखने लगते हैं। अपने गुणों के लिए आभारी रहें, उन पर अकड़ें नहीं।
