kutumbeshu na sajjeta na pramadyet kutumby-api
vipashchin nashvaram pashyed adrishtam api drishtavat
कुटुम्बेषु न सज्जेत न प्रमाद्येत्कुटुम्ब्यपि।
विपश्चिन्नश्वरं पश्येददृष्टमपि दृष्टवत्॥
A householder should not cling to family, nor become careless though he has one. The wise should see that the unseen future is as perishable as what is seen now.

गृहस्थ को परिवार में आसक्त नहीं होना चाहिए, और परिवार होते हुए भी लापरवाह नहीं होना चाहिए। ज्ञानी को समझना चाहिए कि जो अभी दिखता है, वैसे ही भविष्य का अनदेखा सुख भी नश्वर है।
परिवार का पूरा ध्यान रखें, पर आसक्ति को अपनी आँखें बंद न करने दें। आज जो है और कल जिसकी आशा है, दोनों बीत जाएँगे; जब तक हैं, उनसे प्रेम करें।
