Srimad Bhagavatam 1.19.2 meaning
dhruvam tato me kritadevahelanad duratyayam vyasanam n-atideerghat
tad astu kamam hy aghanishkritaya me yatha na kuryam punar evam addha
ध्रुवं ततो मे कृतदेवहेलनाद्दुरत्ययं व्यसनं नातिदीर्घात्।
तदस्तु कामं ह्यघनिष्कृताय मे यथा न कुर्यां पुनरेवमद्धा॥
Surely, because I insulted a holy man, a hard calamity will soon fall on me. Let it come, so that I may be cleansed of this sin and never do such a thing again.

Parikshit does not make excuses; he accepts the consequence and wants to change. Taking full responsibility for a mistake is painful, yet it is the surest road to becoming better.हिंदी में अर्थ
निश्चय ही, मैंने एक संत का अपमान किया है, इसलिए जल्दी ही मुझ पर कठिन संकट आएगा। वह आए, ताकि मेरा पाप धुल जाए और मैं फिर कभी ऐसा न करूँ।
परीक्षित बहाने नहीं बनाते, वे परिणाम स्वीकारते हैं और बदलना चाहते हैं। अपनी ग़लती की पूरी ज़िम्मेदारी लेना दर्द देता है, पर बेहतर बनने का यही पक्का रास्ता है।
