Srimad Bhagavatam 1.17.24 meaning

tapah shaucham daya satyam iti padah krite kritah adharmanshais trayo bhagnah smayasangamadais tava

In the age of truth, austerity, purity, compassion and truthfulness were your four legs. Three of them have been broken by the forces of wrong: pride, attachment and arrogance.

What it means
Dharma stands on four legs: self-discipline, cleanliness, kindness and truth. Pride, clinging and intoxication break them one by one. Truth is the last leg left; guard it carefully.

Spoken by Parikshit.
