Bhagavad Gita 6.7 meaning
jitatmanah prashantasya paramatma samahitah
sheetoshna-sukhaduhkheshu tatha manapamanayoh
One who has conquered themselves and is deeply at peace stays centred in the higher Self, steady through cold and heat, pleasure and pain, honour and insult.
What it means
Praise and criticism, good days and bad days will keep coming. Inner mastery means your centre does not move with them. You feel things, but they do not knock you over. How it helps in real life
- At work: Praised in the town hall on Monday, criticised in review on Friday? Note both calmly, take the useful bits, and keep your routine.
- With family: Relatives compare you to a cousin at every wedding? Smile, let the comment pass, and don't let it ruin your evening.
Spoken by Krishna.
