Bhagavad Gita · Dhyana Yoga
Bhagavad Gita 6.1 meaning
anashritah karmaphalam karyam karma karoti yah
Whoever does the work that ought to be done, without leaning on its rewards, is the true renunciant and the true yogi, not the one who has merely stopped lighting the sacred fire or stopped acting.
What it means
Renunciation is not about quitting your job or responsibilities. It is about doing what needs doing without clinging to the payoff. Inner letting go matters far more than outward withdrawal. How it helps in real life
- At work: Thinking renunciation means quitting your corporate job? Stay, do your work honestly, and stop checking who gets the credit.
- As a parent: Waking at 3am for your baby's feed while resenting it? Do it as your duty, softly, without counting who did more.
Spoken by Krishna.
