Bhagavad Gita · Karma Sannyasa Yoga
Bhagavad Gita 5.2 meaning
sannyasah karmayogash cha nihshreyasakarav ubhau
tayos tu karmasannyasat karmayogo vishishyate
Krishna said: Renouncing action and the yoga of action both lead to the highest good. But of the two, the yoga of action is better than giving up action.
What it means
Walking away from the world and working in it selflessly can both lead to peace. But for most of us, engaged and unselfish action is the more practical and powerful path. Do not run; serve. How it helps in real life
- At work: Fed up and fantasising about moving to the mountains? Try volunteering one skill at work for a cause you care about first.
- Helping others: Want to do good but think you must quit everything? Start by spending two hours a week helping at a nearby old-age home.
Spoken by Krishna.
