Bhagavad Gita 3.37 meaning
kama esha krodha esha rajoguna-samudbhavah
mahashano mahapapma viddhy-enam iha vairinam
It is desire, it is anger, born of the quality of passion. It is never satisfied and drives people to great wrong. Know this to be the enemy here.
What it means
Uncontrolled desire, and the anger it creates when it's blocked, are behind most of our regrets. Recognising them as the real enemy, not other people, is the first step to freedom. How it helps in real life
- When you are angry: Furious because your sister got the bigger room? Notice it's your wanting turned to anger, not her fault; take a walk first.
- At work: Raging because a colleague got the promotion you wanted? Recognise the real enemy is your craving; congratulate them and ask for feedback.
Spoken by Krishna.
