Bhagavad Gita 2.5 meaning

guroon ahatva hi mahanubhavan shreyo bhoktum bhaikshyam ap-eeha loke hatv-arthakamans tu guroon ih-aiva bhunjeeya bhogan rudhirapradigdhan

Better to live on alms in this world than to kill these great-souled teachers. If I kill them, even though they are driven by greed, every pleasure I enjoy here will be stained with their blood.

What it means
Arjuna would rather give up everything than gain it through harm to those he reveres. His conscience is speaking. The question the Gita raises is whether this feeling is clear judgement or grief in disguise.

Spoken by Arjuna.
