Bhagavad Gita 2.49 meaning
doorena hy-avaram karma buddhiyogad dhananjaya
buddhau sharanam anvichcha kripanah phalahetavah
Action done for the sake of reward is far inferior to action guided by wisdom, Dhananjaya. Take refuge in that wisdom. Those who work only for results are to be pitied.
What it means
Working only for the payoff keeps us anxious and small. Working from clear understanding makes the effort itself meaningful, and we suffer less when results disappoint. How it helps in real life
- At work: Only working hard when the boss is watching? Pick one task today and do it brilliantly just because it deserves doing well.
- After a setback: Your Diwali sale campaign flopped despite weeks of effort. List what you learned and improved; that growth is the real return.
Spoken by Krishna.
