bhogaishvarya-prasaktanam tayapahrita-chetasam
vyavasayatmika buddhih samadhau na vidheeyate
Those attached to pleasure and power, whose minds are carried away by such talk, cannot develop the steady, resolute understanding needed for deep meditation.
What it means
A mind always chasing pleasure and status cannot settle. Focus and inner calm grow only when we gently loosen our grip on constant wanting and comparing. How it helps in real life
- Phone & habits: Trying to meditate but checking LinkedIn likes every five minutes? Put the phone in another room for your next ten-minute sit.
- When you succeed: Chasing the next title right after your promotion? Pause for a week, enjoy the work itself, and notice how your mind settles.
Spoken by Krishna.
