Bhagavad Gita 17.18 meaning
satkaramanapoojartham tapo dambhena ch-aiva yat
kriyate tad iha proktam rajasam chalam adhruvam
Austerity done to gain respect, honour and praise, or out of hypocrisy, is called restless (rajasic); it is unstable and short-lived.
What it means
Discipline done for likes, praise or image does not last, because the motivation disappears when the audience does. Lasting change comes from inner reasons, not outer applause. How it helps in real life
- Phone & habits: Your fitness journey started only for Instagram likes and keeps stopping. Delete the progress posts and write one private reason you want to be healthy.
- When you succeed: Fasting on Tuesdays mainly so relatives praise your devotion? Find your own reason, or drop it and pray quietly instead.
Spoken by Krishna.
