Bhagavad Gita 16.13 meaning
idam adya maya labdham imam prapsye manoratham
idam asteedam api me bhavishyati punar dhanam
'Today I got this; tomorrow I will fulfil that wish. This wealth is mine already, and more will be mine in future.'
What it means
This is the inner voice of endless wanting: always counting what we have and planning what comes next. There is nothing wrong with goals, but if the list never ends, contentment never arrives. How it helps in real life
- With money: Checking your portfolio ten times a day and planning the next buy? Write down what 'enough' looks like for you, and stick it on the fridge.
- When you succeed: Just bought your second flat and already eyeing a third. Pause, throw a small puja of thanks, and enjoy what you have.
Spoken by Krishna.
